trogloxene

in a booth at the back of the bar,
a hand wrapped around the neck
of the seventh or eighth or ninth,
and all the problems in the world
are smiling, smoking and laughing
with each other outside the heavy,
heavy door, all glancing at their
watches, boots tapping rhythmically
as the rain.
